Chicken Avocado Tortilla Wrap (Personal)
A personal lunch wrap — 15 minutes, goes with you to work.
Avocado instead of mayonnaise cuts calories and boosts healthy fats.
If raw, grill 5 minutes per side in a pan. If already cooked, skip this step.
Heat the tortilla in a dry pan for 15 seconds per side — it becomes soft and pliable for folding.
In the centre of the tortilla, mash the avocado and spread it in an even layer (leaving a 2 cm border around the edges).
Place the lettuce, chicken and tomato in a line down the centre. Season with salt, pepper and mayonnaise.
Fold the two sides of the tortilla inward first, then roll it firmly from the bottom up. Cut diagonally.
The glycemic index (GI) measures how quickly a food raises blood sugar, while the glycemic load (GL) measures how much a full serving raises it. Together they give the complete picture.
A low value (≤55) means a gradual rise in blood sugar — the most suitable range for diabetes and insulin resistance.
Glycemic load reflects the impact of the full serving. To lower it: take half a serving, or pair the recipe with a source of protein and fiber.
* Percent Daily Values are based on a 2,000-calorie diet per FDA food-label reference values — your daily needs may be higher or lower. Values are derived from the recipe's ingredients via the USDA database.
The most common problems when preparing Chicken Avocado Tortilla Wrap (Personal), and how to fix them:
Too dry. Warm it in the pan a little longer, or sprinkle with a little water.
Too much filling. Do not fill more than half the tortilla.
Overcooked. 5 minutes is enough for sliced chicken.
Needs salt or pepper — both are essential.
Best eaten right after making.
Keep it wrapped in cling film for up to 4 hours.
Avocado loses its texture when frozen.
